Understanding Our Tiered Rate Structure

DDMWC uses a tiered rate structure to calculate what you are charged based on your consumption for a two-month period as measured by your water meter. One of our DDMWC technicians will access the water meter on your property once every two months to capture how much water you used since the last reading. Your water meter measures usage in "cubic feet" of water used. Each cubic foot is equivalent to roughly 7.48 gallons. Water prices are set based on 100 cubic feet increments, or "HCF".

Here's how it works: Those who use more water will be billed at a higher rate as your usage pushes you into a higher rate tier, while those who use less will be billed at a lower rate as their reduced rate of consumption keeps them in the lower rate tier(s). While most DDMWC shareholders will likely move into the Tier 2 level based on usage, your first 500 cubic ft. of water used during each two-month period will always be billed at the Tier 1 rate.

On April 7, 2026 the DDMWC Board of Directors voted to increase water rates by 12%.

You will receive an invoice in the mail from us every other month which will reflect your water consumption over the prior two months. Payment is due upon receipt. You can mail in a personal check, or you can use Zelle to send your payment directly from your bank account.
